Key Features
With the DX7 you’ll be able to fly anything from micro electric helis, to big gas-powered IMAC planes without regard to frequencies and free from fear of interference. Calling this kind of thing “revolutionary” just doesn’t cut it. It is nothing less than a quantum leap in RC technology that will change how you fly forever. Never again will the availability of a frequency pin dictate when you can take off. Never again will you have to ask, “What channel are you on?” Never again will your flying experience be interrupted by model-generated RF noise, interference from commercial broadcast towers, or anyone on another RC system.
The big difference with DSM2 is that it not only flies any size model with absolute precision and complete freedom from interference, but it also processes its signal faster than any high-end 72MHz PCM system. DSM2—Security and Speed: Unlike most first-of-its-kind innovations, DSM2™ is not an unproven concept. It is based on the same Spektrum 2.4GHz DSM (Digital Spectrum Modulation) that RC car racers, as well as micro electric and park flyer modelers, have been enjoying for at least two years. Like DSM, DSM2 provides an impenetrable radio link that’s immune to every known type of RC interference. Because it operates at 1024-bit resolution, it provides the kind of locked-in response that will have pilots feeling more connected to their models than ever before.
AR7000—Spectacular Signal Clarity: The AR7000 dual receiver that comes with the DX7 is key to the system’s incredibly robust RF link. Comprised of a compact main receiver that is linked to an even smaller satellite receiver by a 6” lead, the AR7000 acts as a pair of extremely sharp RF “eyes” that each take in a slightly different view of the signal environment. Information from both receivers is then processed by patent-pending Spektrum software that takes information from each receiver and combines it to form the most vivid “picture” of an RF signal than has ever been possible before. What’s more, there are no long antennas to accommodate. The AR7000’s short 3” antennas don’t require any external exposure, so installation is an absolute breeze. ServoSync and ModelMatch—Extra Safety and Precision: DSM2 and the AR7000 aren’t the DX7’s only marvels.Spektrum engineers have come up with two more patent-pending innovations that you’ll wonder how you ever lived without— ModelMatch™ and ServoSync™. ServoSync is an ingenious new feature that actually resequences the bits of data the DX7 transmits based on the type of mixing you select. So, if you have a dual elevator on your big Extra or a 3-servo CCPM setup on your heli, ServoSync will see to it that those servos working together receive their impulses together. The result is more synchronized servo movement that translates into an undeniable, locked-in feel when you fly. ModelMatch puts an end to the “wrong model” syndrome. Almost everyone who flies RC has at one time or another crashed because he neglected to verify the model name on the transmitter display in his preflight check. A unique code is embedded in the DX7’s signal so that, if the wrong model’s name is on the screen, the model’s controls simply won’t respond. AR6000-Compatible: DX6 owners and anyone else who flies small electric models will be pleased to know that the AR6000 receiver works perfectly with DX7 too. In fact, the AR6000 will actually benefit from the DX7’s signal speed advantages, as well as ModelMatch and ServoSync. So whatever the aircraft, be it a .60-size heli or a 15-ounce foamie, it can fly with the DX7.

The new 6EXP has been selected as Futaba’s first 2.4GHz aircraft/helicopter system, and utilises the highly advanced FASST (Futaba Advanced Spread Spectrum Technology) system to give the ultimate in performance and control. Allowing switch on and go operation, and with amazing interference rejection, this set will become the standard by which all others are measured. With this set there will be no more waiting for a frequency to become clear, and fellow fliers cannot accidentally shoot you down by mistakenly switching their set on when it is on the same frequency as you, significantly increasing safety and allowing more flying time at popular flying sites. With the operating frequency changing every two milliseconds, the 2.4GHz FASST system is virtually invulnerable to interference, unlike other less advanced systems that operate on one or two fixed frequencies.Dual antenna diversity selects the best signal from the two receiver aerials, so there is a solid RF link, no matter what the attitude of the model. The tiny R617FS receiver weights only 9.8g (7g without case), but is a full range receiver that works every bit as well in normal or giant scale models, allowing simple swaps between models. Unlike other systems, there is no separate aerial module that has to be installed, increasing weight and taking up more space.Other features include Pre-Vision Packet Screening Technology that scans the incoming data, and applies sophisticated error correction techniques as well as the Easy Link system which incorporates a unique ID code in the transmitter, which, when linked with the R617FS receiver, ensures that only this particular receiver will accept commands from its ‘paired’ transmitter.

Building on the experience gained from both the DX6 and 7 the DX6i is a ground-up design delivering all of the advantages that Spektrum’s DSM2 technology offers, at a very affordable price. The ability to fly anywhere without concerns of frequency clashes, no more model generated interference and the added advantage of features like SmartSafe™, ModelMatch™ and ServoSync™ all contribute to making flying simply safer and more enjoyable with DX6i.
A Proven Technology Underpinned with DSM2 technology the DX6i is a full-range transmitter that can be used to fly all types of craft from small ultra-lights , foamies and mini helis to larger glow or gas powered planes. For two years team pilots and Spektrum engineers have been testing and using the same DSM2 technology that the DX6i employs with DX7 and the Spektrum Air Modules, proving constantly that the technology delivers on its promise of reliable peg free, interference free flying.
Ergonomic design As with any device that we have to interface with the underlying technology it’s only part of the overall design story. DX6i has been designed very much with this in mind and input starting from the original DX6 transmitter has seen it carefully evolve into a transmitter that is both comfortable and pleasing to have in the hand and one that offers easy access to all of the controls and adjustment inputs. It is relatively light weight, due in part to its efficiency and the need for only four batteries to power it, but feels substantial to hold. As such it evokes an air of confidence in that it is a competent and substantial piece of equipment that can be used with more than one plane or heli rather than a more toy-like transmitter that is dedicated to just one particular model.
A new switch arrangement on the DX6i adds functionality that other radios in its class simply don’t offer. In addition to the traditional elevator and aileron dual-rate switches, the DX6i also offers a third rudder dual-rate switch. This may only be a small addition, but is never the less one that can enhance the flying experience.
With the large amount of programming that is utilised in today’s transmitters navigation through the vast array of menus can become very cumbersome. Rather than using a combination of buttons and switches as with some radios DX6i uses a single scroll and click roller selector. The three-way roller selector allows you to scroll up or down through the menu along with selecting a menu item by simply pressing it in. The menus are displayed on an easy to read substantial 60 by 25mm LCD screen that features contrast adjustment to optimise viewing in all conditions.
Advanced Programming The DX6i is loaded with advanced programming features that up until now would only be found on more expensive transmitters. It provides an ideal solution for anyone who is looking for economically priced full-featured radio system, thanks to its extensive, feature-rich and easy to use menu system. From basic trim settings for planes to advanced settings for helis it has them all. Featuring a ten model memory it can store each models unique settings, and as they are saved with a multi-character name, accessing them when out flying is very easy.
Receiver Compatability The DX6i comes with the AR6200 receiver which can be used for any plane requiring six channels or less. The transmitter is though, compatible with all the Spektrum DSM2 full range and park flyer receivers including the AR6000, so for those who have been flying with a DX6 the opportunity is now there to upgrade to a DX6i and enjoy the extra functions just by binding the transmitter to the original radio gear installed in the plane.
The Transmitter The DX6i transmitter features both aeroplane and helicopter software, a 10 model memory plus all the programming functions that a seven channel radio needs. The large display situated under the sticks provides a clear interface providing easy access to programming via the scroll and click roller selector.
